Five railway stations to be modernised
Gulbarga, Feb 1 (UNI) Five railway stations in Sholapur division would be modernised by August next at a cost of Rs three crore each, Central Railway General Manager (CST Mumbai) V K Kaul said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said Wadi, Gulbarga, Daund, Sholapur and Ahmednagar would be modernised. The works would include upgradation of booking counters and platforms. In Gulbarga, the platform renovation work would be taken up with the new concept of 'touch and feel', he added.
When malpractices in reserving tickets for long distance trains by some travel agencies in Gulbarga were brought to his notice, he said he would instruct the Railways Vigilance department to inquire into it and if any railway staff was found involved in the racket, stern action would be initiated.
Later, Mr Kaul inspected the railway stations of Wadi, Shajapur, Babla, Daund, Akkalkot road and Sholapur, besides some railway bridges in the division.
He announced an award of Rs 20,000 for the Gulbarga railway station for best maintenance and keeping the station tidy.
