Energy secretary surrenders, gets bail

Patna, Feb 01 (UNI) Bihar energy secretary V Jaishankar today surrendered before Chief Judicial Magistrate(CJM) here in connection with a case related to irregularities committed in construction of Durgawati reservoir.

CJM Ms Sushma Sinha granted the bail to Mr Shankar in the light of the anticipatory bail granted to him earlier by the district and sessions judge. After hearing the arguments of both sides, Ms Sinha directed Mr Shankar to furnish two bail bonds of Rs 10,000 each and sureties of the same amount.

Mr Shankar was water resources commissioner when the irregularities were committed.
