Couple murdered in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 1 (UNI) A couple was murdered in the frontier district of Kupwara, a police spokesman said today.

He said the killers have been identified and a massive hunt has been launched to nab them.

Giving details of the murder, he said a couple Shah Zaman Khan (35) and his wife Fatima Jan (25), residents of Nagitha Manigah, were found murdered this morning.

During investigation, it was learnt that Zaman Khan had no child from his first wife and because of this, he married with a girl from West Bengal Rani a year back.

He had reportedly purchased Rani from one Sarafaz Khan through one mediator Bashir Ahmad Swathi.

However, Rani ran away from the house of Zaman Khan some fifteen days back. On this, Zaman demanded his money back from the mediator Bashir Ahmad which he denied. This reportedly resulted in a dispute between the two, he said, adding Bashir Ahmad along with his associates allegedly killed the couple.
