CBI arrests its SI, five others for human trafficking

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) CBI has arrested six people, including one of its sub-inspectors, on charges of human trafficking.

A CBI spokesperson said all the accused, including sub inspector Lilu Ram, are in judicial custody.

Six premises linked to the accused were searched and more than 150 passports were recovered from one place.

The accused used to cheat people with the promise of sending them abroad for employment.

''They contacted unemployed people and promised them jobs in foreign countries, extracting huge amounts of money from them,'' he said.

''They then arranged travel documents, including passports, visas and travel tickets, for them,'' he added.

He said on arrival, the travel documents of the victims were taken away and then they were constantly shifted from one place to another ''One such victim had somehow managed to return to India.

On his return, he confronted the accused in India and demanded refund of his money.

He approached CBI when he was denied the refund, the spokesperson said.
