West Bengal: Lalbag skeletons await forensic team

Lalbag (Murshidabad), Feb 01: A day after 50 skeletons wereunearthed from a pond behind the correctional sub-jail here, police hascordoned off the area while speculations run rife as people continue tothrong the spot.

ASI Murshidabad S Bakshi, who is in charge of securing the spottold UNI, ''From last night we have cordoned off the area. Theskeletons have been taken to the police station.

''We are now awaiting the CID and forensic teams to come and take stock of the situation,'' he added.

Meanwhile, fear has been raised of the replication of the grislyNithari murders with so many skeletons being unearthed in a heap fromthe region.

Tension ran high in this historic Murshidabad district yesterday with the recovery of the skeletons.

PWD workers stumbled upon several human skulls besides some animal and human bones while digging the pond.

All the skeltons were, however, dismembered with skulls and other body parts being searated from each other.
