Approx 60 per cent voting registered in PMC and PCMC

Pune, Feb 1 (UNI) Barring stray incidents, polling ended peacefully at 1730 hrs today with preliminary reports indicating that about 55-60 per cent polling was registered to 144 seats of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and 105 seats of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Polling Officer Dynandev Thube told UNI, ''But for a few incidents in Baner and PCMC areas, voting ended peacefully.'' A total of 26,20,879 voters from PMC and PCMC will decide the fate of 1,824 candidates contesting the polls.

The counting will begin at 0800 hrs tomorrow.
