Anil Razdan takes charge as Power Secretary

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) Mr Anil Razdan, an officer of the Haryana cadre of the Indian Administrative Service (1973 batch), today took over charge from Mr R V Shahi as Power Secretary.

The move was as per the Centre's decision to promote all officers of the 1973 Indian Administrative Services (IAS) batch to secretary level. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet yesterday approved appointment of 10 new secretaries under this decision.

Mr Razdan was Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas before assuming office of Power Secretary.

He has held various significant assignments in the energy sector in the Union and Haryana government. He has hold the positions of Joint Secretary with the Department of Atomic Energy, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Power. He has also been Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Government of Haryana in the Power, Irrigation and Public Works Departments.

Mr Razdan has been associated with negotiations for setting up 1,000 MW nuclear power reactors and non-proliferation issues in the Department of Atomic Energy.

In the Ministry of Power, he has been handling issues relating to energy conservation, hydro-power, transmission, rural electrification operations management, policy planning, external assistance and international cooperation.
