Air Marshal Y R Rane assume charge

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 1 (UNI) Air Marshal Y R Rane today assumed charge of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief at the Southern Air Command Headquarters here in an impressive ceremony.

Air Marshal Rane was received at the Command HeadQuarters building at Akkulam, by Air Vice Marshal V S Kapani, Senior Air Staff Officer, Southern Air Command, a release said here.

A guard of honour was given to Air Marshal Rane. He took the salute and reviewed the parade, which was commanded by Wing Commander Vinod Kumar.

Later, Air Marshal Rane addressed all the Air Warriors of the Command.

An alumni of National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Rane was commissioned in the fighter stream of Indian Air Force on December 20, 1969 with about 4,600 hours of flying to his credit, he had also piloted most of the fighter aircraft in the IAF inventory.

Air Marshal Rane was Commandant of the Air Force Academy and held several important positions at Air Headquarters. He had commanded two front line fighter squadrons of Indian Air Force and the prestigious Air Force Station Gwalior, the release added.
