AC waiting room inaugurated at Nadiad
Nadiad, Feb 1 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways Naranbhai Rathwa today inaugurated the air-conditioned (AC) waiting room and VIP room here.
Mr Rathwa said that the Nadiad railway station would be made people-friendly and more amenities would be increased. A garden too would be built in front of the railway station.
He said a foot bridge would be built connecting western and eastern side of the station.
Stating that 334 projects worth Rs 45,000 crore have been taken up by the Centre nationwide there was some delay in implementation at some places. However, work at the Nadiad station would proceed in full swing, he said.
Mumbai Central-Ajmer Express and Bandra Terminus-Bhavnagar Express would stop at the Nadiad railway station from today, Mr Rathwa said.
Union State Minister for Pertroleum Dinshaw Patel, present at the event, urged the people to use the station. He brought the first ticket to Nadiad by paying Rs 6. The ticket from Mahudha to Anand is priced at Rs 9 while to Surat it is Rs 32.
Mahuda railway station on the Nadiad-Modassa line, 15 km from here, began operating after it was closed down on November 15, 1995. The reopening of Mahuda station was largely due to Mr Patel's efforts.
