4 dead, 16 injured in fire in Essar refinery

Jamnagar, Feb 1 (UNI) Four people were killed and 16 others injured in a fire that broke out in the Essar's refinery complex in Vadinar here early today.

''Pipe welding was being carried out at the pig launching station when sparks led to the fire,'' Vice-President Corporate Communications Prashant Pandya said.

The fire was brought under control by refinery personnel using fire extinguishers. The injured have been shifted to Jamnagar Civil Hospital.

The fire has not affected the functioning of the refinery and normal operations were on.
