Pune, Feb 1 (UNI) Barring a few incidents of minor clashes, voting was peaceful in Pune with 37 per cent polling average registered till 1400 hrs.

A ladies ward No 29 identified as 'sensitive' has registered the highest turnout of 50 per cent voters this afternoon, informed polling officer Dynandev Thube here.

Thube said voting began at 0730 hrs amid tight security and the voting was peaceful in the city. However, a minor incident of clash between two groups outside the polling centre at Dehu was reported where police brought the situation under control immediately. In city's outskirts, people appeared enthusiastic to cast their vote.

Incidents of minor clashes were also reported from the city's industrial belt of Pimpri-Chinchwad. People were protesting the administration's failure to install cameras in wards declared 'sensitive', however, the situation is under control, Thube added. UNI
