MPSEB engineer arrested on bribery charge
Satna, MP, Jan 31 (UNI) The Lokayukta Police arrested an acting executive engineer of the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MSEB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
Lokayukta Special Police Establishment's Deputy Superintendent of Police Atul Singh Parihar said mill owner Omprakash Keswani had lodged a police complaint that MPSEB Acting Executive Engineer K K Tripathi had demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh from him.
The accused was arrested while accepting Rs 50,000 as first installment of the bribe.
The MPSEB engineer had raided Mr Keswani's mill in the first week of January and registered a case of power theft of Rs 12 lakh.
Mr Keswani complained that Tripathi demanded bribe in order to reduce the amount.
Tripathi was arrested but later released on bail.
