Media to play vital role to boost tourism: Dilawar
Jammu, Jan 31: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir has called for launching a comprehensive and vigorous campaign through print and electronic media to show-case varied tourist potential of the state in overseas as well as in the country.
Releasing the Jammu and Kashmir Development Corporation (JKTDC)'s bi-annual magazine 'JK Travel', the minister sought cooperation of the media to present improving situation in the state in positive perspective.
''Sporadic incidents of violence occur in other parts of the country and across the world. Jammu and Kashmir, known as the paradise on earth,'' has unbound scenic beauty which needs to be marketed optimally for the benefit of the state in a big way, he said.
The Tourism Minister also urged exploring the tourist spots of all the three regions of the state -- Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu -- which have its peculiarities and specialties.
he said the winter festival at Gulmarg, this season have yielded tangible results and the tourist destination is flocked with foreign tourists nowadays.
JKTDC has dovetailed with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and some private airlines for launching of package tours as well as providing accommodation to promote tourism in the state.
