Amway's Rs 1000 CR mark around the corner - Parmeshwaran

Panaji, Jan 31 (UNI) Amway India, leading direct selling FMCG Company, has posted sales of Rs 738 crore in Jan-December 2006, up from Rs 633 crore in the last year.

The Corporate&Legal Affairs Amway Director Sanker Parameshwran told mediapersons here today ''This is a robust growth of almost 17 percent and Amway strongly belives that Rs 1000 crore milestone is just around the corner.'' He said Amway attritubute this growth to the top-class quality of its products as well as the consumer's confidence in the brand. ''We have had an over seven-fold increase in the eight years,'' he added.

He said Amway is known as a health and beauty company worldwide.

It does not surpise us that the 30 cosmetic and 16 health-care products in the Indian market, account for over 60 per cent of out turnover.

The Amway has presence in four products categories viz Nutrition and wellness, cosmetics, home care and personal care products and its greatest achievement has been in helping establish the direct selling (DS) industry in India. Today, this industry is a thriving Rs 3,000 crore Industry Mr Parameshwaran added.

Sandip Misra, Associate Vice president Amway India West said the Company had started business with six products an from five offices today we have around 80 products and 74 offices across the length and breath of the country with homedeliveries to over 2,500 towns and cities. Amway contributed more than Rs 175 crore to the government exchequer in 2006 by way of direct and indirect taxes and duties, Mr Misra added.

He said Amway's Nutrition and wellness brand, Nutrilite contributes more than 50 percent and consmetics contributes over 10 percent to the total turnover of Amway India worldwide.

Amway lays emphasis on extensive training and provided free unlimited training to Amway Business owners and has conducted over 29,000 training session across the country with an attendance of over 1.3 million Amway business owners and prospects.

Amway India is a wholly owned subsidiary of US 6.4 billion dollars Alticor Ada Michigan, USA, one of the largest Direct Selling company in the world.
