Mumbai: 1 hurt in detonator blast at Warora station

Nagpur, Jan 30: A woman labourer sustained minor injuries when adetonator, in a pile of waste that she set a fire, went off at Warorarailway station in Chandrapur district of Vidarbha region ofMaharashtra today.

The police later found 19 more similar detonators at the station.

Chandrapur district Superintendent of Police (SP) RavindraKadamtold UNI that the victim Ms Shobha Sudhakar was among thelabourers carrying out routine cleaning work on the railway tracks atWarora station this morning. The trash was collected in a heap and seton fire, triggering the blast, he said.

The detonator that went off was of the kind used in the digging ofwells, he said, adding that police found 19 more detonators of the samekind when they inspected the railway tracks at the station.

The police suspect that the detonators were unaccounted for andwere, therefore, dumped on the tracks by the persons carrying them outof fear of getting caught. ''We are investigating where the detonatorscame from,'' the SP added.

The woman is being brought to the central railway hospital at Nagpur for treatment.
