Mohurram violence in MP city
Indore, Jan 30 (UNI) Police resorted to a cane-charge and lobbed teargas shells to disperse members of two communities indulging in stone-pelting, arson and other damage to property tonight after immersion of 'tazias' at the local Karbala Ground on the occasion of Mohurram.
''Members of a procession returning from the Karbala Ground pelted stones at a nearby Hanuman shrine where worship was taking place. They also indulged in arson. In retaliation, members of the other community also pelted stones and damaged property,'' said Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav.
Tension was already prevailing in the city as both programmes were scheduled. Keeping that in view, Rapid Action Force platoons and a heavy police force were already stationed.
