Interrogation leads to suicide

Vidisha, MP, Jan 29 (UNI) A head constable was among two police personnel who have been suspended in this district after a youth allegedly committed self-immolation due to apprehension after interrogation.

''Police at Dhatooria village, roughly 10 km from here, received a complaint yesterday about the youth Mahendra Singh Dangi having assaulted an adolescent Umrao Prajapati,'' Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said.

Head Constable Suresh Tiwari and Constable Bal Bahadur Thapa reached the village for questioning. After preliminary interrogation, Dangi excused himself for a few minutes, reached his home, doused himself with kerosene and took the extreme step. The severely-burnt youth died in the district hospital late last night.
