Unemployed teachers to intensify agitation

Mysore, Jan 29 (UNI) Unemployed teachers, who are on the verge of crossing the age bar of 29 years for employment as stipulated by the Government, have threatened to intensify their agitation on February one.

Speaking to newspersons here, Karnataka Rajya Vahomithi Meeruthirva Shala Shishakara Shikshakiyra Vokkotta President K S Dinesh said 20,000 such teachers were about to cross the age limit and if they miss the bus, they would be completely knocked out of the arena. Therefore, they have decided to stage a demonstration and take out a procession from Chikka Lalbagh in Bangalore. They would also not hesitate to end their lives in front of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's residence the next day, he threatened.

He recalled that the Chief Minister, during his Janata Darshan on December 30, had promised to consider their request by according priority to such teachers up to 40 per cent of the new recruits.

But, the Government had not acted on this promise, he added.
