ULFA militant killed

Guwahati, Jan 29 (UNI) The ULFA today received a major jolt when the Army shot dead one of their leaders Moni Gogoi near Joypur inside Arunachal Pradesh.

According to a an official report received here, a five-member team of the ULFA was coming from Arunachal Pradesh when a patrol party belonging to the 45 field regiment laid an ambush.

In the ensuing encounter while Moni Gogoi died, others managed to escape. The army recovered IEDs, ammunition of AK 56 and some ULFA letterheads from the deceased.

Sources said the deceased had killed an army personnel near Asomiya village of Tinsukia district in November last.
