Two women died failing to provide dowry

Agartala, Jan 29 (UNI) Altogether two women died in Tripura's Dhalai and South districts respectively last week for not being able to meet the dowry demanded by their in-laws.

According to police sources here today, one of the deceased Rinku Malakar, who was pregnant by seven months, succumbed her injuries at IGM hospital here on January 24.

Police said Rinku's in-laws were pressing her for dowry since long and were torturing her. Her mother-in-law and sister-in-law were arrested but her husband was absconding.

Yet in another incident another women Bulti Natta Das met the fate at Udaipur in South district failing to provide Rs 20,000 as dowry.

Bulti, was set ablazed by her husband. She succumbed to her injuries at a hospital here a few days back.

A case had been registered against her husband, who is absconding after the incident, police said.
