Tokyo's Nikkei edges down as Sony trims gains

TOKYO, Jan 29 (Reuters) The Nikkei share average edged lower at the start of trade on Monday as Sony Corp. and others trimmed recent gains ahead of their earnings results later this week.

The Nikkei was down 0.21 percent at 17,384.86 as of 0004 GMT.

The broad TOPIX index was down 0.22 percent at 1,724.25.
