Silver, Gold decline

Mumbai, Jan 29 (UNI) Both the precious metals today declined on the Bombay Bullion Exchange with Silver down by Rs 80 per kilogram and Gold by Rs 35 per ten gm on sluggish demand.

Silver fineness opened high at Rs 19,980 per kilogram on better buying support. Later, it declined and closed at Rs 19,895 with a loss of Rs 80 from Saturday's close.

In London, the white metal was quoted low at 13.20/13.22 per troy ounce against US 13.33/13.36 per troy ounce in New York.

Similary, standard gold (99.5) and pure gold (99.9) opened upward at Rs 9,300 and Rs 9,350 per ten gm respectively on good demand.

The yellow metals drifted lower and closed at Rs 9,255 and Rs 9,310 per ten gm respectively with a loss of Rs 35 for standard Gold and Rs 30 for Pure Gold respecively from their last close.

In London, the yellow metal also fell to USD 640.80/643.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 643.40/646.40 per troy ounce in New York on Friday.

Following are the spot silver and gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 19,895 (19,975), Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,255 (9,290), Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,310 (9,340).
