Senior minister puts in paper amid Terai conflict
Kathmandu, Jan 29 (UNI) The crisis in the southern part of Nepal worsened with the resignation of a senior minister over the non-serious attitude of the government towards the grievances of the Madhesi community.
Minister of Industry, Supply and Commerce Hridayesh Tripathi, representing the Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandidevi) in the present government, tendered his resignation from the cabinet, saying the government failed to address the demands raised by the Madhesi community.
Central committee members of the party had recently urged the senior politician of the party to leave the coalition government, accusing it of suppressing the Madheshi movement in the Terai region.
Meanwhile, leaders of eight party (ruling alliance and Maoists) are holding talks at Prime Minister's residence to discuss the current impasse over the Terai region.
