Riot Victims to show black flags to Sonia Gandhi
Jalandhar, Jan 29 (UNI) The Riot Victims Welfare Society, an associaion of 1984 riot victims' families' today decided to hold protests and wave black flags during Congress President Sonia Gandhi's visit to Punjab to campaign for the february 13 assembly elections.
Alleging that Ms Gandhi's husband, former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi, was responsible for atrocities against Sikhs in 1984, the society president Surjit Singh said here that the victim's families' will use all methods of protests, including dharna, waving of black flags and burning of effigies, to ''express their anguish against Sonia Gandhi's family and her party-led governments' role later in ''delaying rehabilitation of the victim families''.
The organisation would also submit their representation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during latter's visit to Punjab, Mr Surjit Singh told medipersons Expressing unhappiness over Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh-led Congress government's ''apathy and inaction'' for providing relief package to victim families, the association has also decided to support Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP combine in the assembly election in the state.
SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal has assured the association early rehabilitation of victims families if SAD came in power after the election, the association chief added.
