Ramadoss alleges narcotics intelligence bureau is corrupt
Chennai, Jan 29 (UNI) Alleging that narcotics substances like Ganja were 'freely available' near schools in the city, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Founder S Ramadoss today faulted the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau-CIB, dealing with such offences, for it.
Talking to newspersons here, he also alleged there was rampant corruption in the department.
''Though the department has special and flying teams to detect and prevent the offences, the officials had not taken any steps to prevent the sale of ganja near some schools in the city,'' he added.
''The whole narcotics unit of the State police, right from the top most official is steeped with corruption and inefficiency and the unit has been rotten'', he alleged.
He urged the state government to take stern action against the officials who failed to discharge their duties and curb the narcotics trade.
On the repoll and bypolls to the Chennai Corporation, nominations for which began today, Dr Ramadoss said PMK Councillors who had resigned their seats would be renominated.
On Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa remarks that her party would boycott the polls, he said ''I hope she does not reverse her stand''.
Alleging that deemed Universities and self-financing colleges were looting money he wanted the Income tax officials to continue raiding the institutions.
