Other castes enjoying benefits meant for Dalits: Ramalingam
Puducherry, Jan 29 (UNI) The Puducherry Scheduled Caste Government Employees Welfare Association would organise agitations to press their demands.
Association president V Ramalingam, addressing a press conference here today said the post of Dalit Minister after the resignation of Mr Angalan was vacant for the last three months and it should be filled by another Dalit legislator.
Alleging that people of other castes were cornering the benefits meant for Dalits by securing fake caste certificates, he pointed out that one Kasirajan, a Sri Lankan repartiate working with the Mettuppalayam ITI had obtained a fake caste certificate. The government should immediately take action against him.
Alleging that proper representation for Dalits were not being given in public sector undertakings, Mr Ramalingam said and charged the government with not implementing promotion opportunities evenafter obtaining a court order in this regard.
If the territorial administration failed to set right things within a fortnight, the association would organise fast in front of the Assembly, Chief secretariate office and even before the Parliament on different dates, he added.
