Nadiad police bust inter-state robbers gang

Anand, Jan 29 (UNI) Nadiad rural police has busted an inter-state gang of robbers on Ahmedabad-Nadiad expressway, following the looting of a truck driver in the morning.

According to police, a truck carrying cotton bales overturned near Areri village on Ahmedabad-Nadiad expressway yesterday. Truck driver Ibrahim Baig and cleaner Rafiq Mirza escaped unhurt and were sitting beside their truck when seven men approached them after parking their tempo some distance away.

They beat the driver and the cleaner and snatched Rs 5,500. The driver managed to note the tempo number from a distance which was MH04AG 2094 and informed the police.

The police swung into action and by evening rounded up the robbers from villages surrounding Nashik.

They were identified as Bikaji Lad (of Osmanabad) (35), Shirpat Khare (22) (Moha), Prakash Khare (20) Shyam Khare (19) Shahji Khari (35) Babashankar Pawar (70) (Beed) and Shahiba Shinde (21) (Beed).

The truck had left Nandgaon on January 26 and was on its way to Kadi in Mehsana when the dacoits struck.
