Motif charity walk on Feb 4
Ahmedabad, Jan 29 (UNI) The fifth Annual Motif Charity Walk-2007 will be flagged off on February four from Atira premises here.
Addressing mediapersons here, Kaushal Mehta, founder and CEO of Motif India Infotech Pvt Ltd here today said the charity walk&run is being held to raise funds which would go to three NGOs directly.
The three NGOs are Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh, which takes care of visually impaired girl child, Gujarat Stree Pragati Mandal, looking after mentally challenged children and Sense International that takes care of deaf-blind children.
Each participant would contribute Rs 100 and Motif would chip in with an equal amount. Motif so far in last five years raised Rs 21 lakhs in support of noble causes, he said. This is a free run and anyone can participate. However, one would get a special T-shirt by contributing Rs 100, he said.
This time around 2,500 persons are likely to participate compared to 2,200 last year. ''We expect to raise Rs five lakh to Rs six lakh. We have also arranged tea/beverages and also an ambulance if need arises for participants. Last year an 85-year-old lady and a six-year-old girl had participated,'' Mr Kaushal said.
Biju Mathews of Sense International said that since the government has not recognised deaf-blind under the visually impaired Act, their organisation has to depend on charity from corporates to help run the organisation. Motif has come forward to help us and we are grateful, he said.
The walk and run will commence at 0700 hrs and will pass by AMA, Panjrapole, LD Engineering College, PRL and IIMA. Runners will have to complete two rounds of the same distance, Mr Kaushal added.
