Minister promises funds for GH upgradation
Vijayawada, Jan 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Health Minister K Rosaiah has assured to allocate at least 'a small portion of funds' in the next Budget for upgrading the government general hospital (GGH) here into a super-specialty hospital.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a 30-bed block of the hospital constructed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh on the premises of Dr Nori Rama Sastry Government Ayurvedic College here, Mr Rosaiah said it might not be possible for the government to allocate large amount of funds for the upgradation. However, some funds could be released in the 2007-08 Budget to fulfil the immediate needs of the hospital.
Calling doctors to work with commitment, he said the medical scenario was undergoing a sea change with a vast majority of the present generation opting for allopathy.
Reiterating ayurveda played a key role in Indian medicine, Mr Rosaiah said since the hospital was located in the heart of the city it should try to extend its reach to the needy.
The medical college adjacent to the ayurveda college would also be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs.17 lakh, he revealed.
