Mercury shows unusual rise in UP
Lucknow, Jan 29 (UNI) People in Uttar Pradesh are experiencing an unusual rise in the temperature these days.
The weatherman attributed the sudden rise in the temperature to mist in the early hours, followed by bright sunshine during the day.
So far, the entire eastern UP was reeling under the biting cold wave conditions.
During the last 24 hours, mercury has risan in Jhansi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Faizabad, Bareilly, Allahabad and Gorakhpur divisions, met told UNI today.
Gorakhpur at -- 11 degrees Celsius -- 2 degrees above normal, was the coldest place in UP.
Jhansi recorded 18 degrees Celsius, followed by 14 each in Varanasi, Bahraich and Kanpur. The state capital reacorded 14 degrees C, which was 6 degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, rainfall and thundershowers might occur at a few places in the next 24 hours.
