Maruti gets dearer after Hyundai, Honda up prices

New Delhi, Jan 29: All models of Maruti will cost more with a maximum hike of up to Rs 12,000 from February 1, said Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) CEO and MD Jagdish Khattar today.

Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors and Honda Siel Cars India had already upped the prices of their products at the beginning of the year.

''We have informed all our dealers about the planned price hike to be effective from February 1 and the price hike will be across most models, except the new Swift which is being launched with an itroductory price,'' Mr Khattar told reporters here.

He was speaking on the sidelines of Automotive Mission Plan 2006-2016, organised by Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Hyundai has increased the price of its new model Verna by Rs 3,500-10,000 and is yet to announce the price hikes for its other models.

Tata Motor has increased the price of its sport utility vehicle Safari by Rs 15,000 and the multi-activity vehicle Sumo by Rs 5,000.

However, media reports says it has abstained from raising price of the popular Indica range and will not be increasing it in the near future.

Honda Siel Cars India has also increased the price of its existing City range by Rs 5,200 to Rs 8,400 and the Civic range by about Rs 12,000.
