JD(S) ratifies disciplinary action against rebel leaders

Bangalore, Jan 29 (UNI) The National Council of Janata Dal (Secular) today unanimously ratified the disciplinary action taken against party Lok Sabha member Veerendra Kumar and others, who had raised a banner of revolt against party President H D Deve Gowda.

A resolution passed at the National Council, which met here, also approved the dissolution of the party Kerala and Pondicherry units and the appointment of new Presidents to the dissolved State units.

It may be recalled here that the party National Executive Committee had on December 25 last taken disciplinary action against Mr Kumar, party ideologue Surendra Mohan and former Karnataka Minister P G R Sindhia for criticising Mr Gowda for joining hands with the BJP and ''evicting'' him from the party.

The resolution, moved by party leader Gattu Babu, was seconded by Shyambihari Singh.
