IUML always working for communal harmony: Ahamed

Malappuram, Jan 29 (UNI) Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed today said his party always stood for fostering communal harmony in the country.

Talking to newspersons after visiting the trouble-torn Tirur and adjoining areas in the district, he said the party's track record since its formation was a testimony to its secular credentials.

''The IUML is always against terrorist and extremists forces and never encouraged such forces'' he said, apparently countering CPI(M) Kerala secretary Pinarayi Vijayan's reported accusation that the IUML was soft-peddaling with the National Development Front(NDF), a Kerala based-Muslim outfit, on certain issues.

One person was killed and several others injured in clashes between two groups leading to tensions in the localities a couple of days ago.
