India to surpass US in headcount for Accenture

Bangalore, Jan 29: India will surpass the United States for the Accenture, a global consulting, technology and outsourcing service provider, in terms of head-count which is increasing it to 35000 by August this year, Mr Willian D Green, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accenture, informed here today.

Addressing a press conference here today Mr Green said that India had become a key country and an integral element in its growth strategy for Accenture. He announced that by the August end Accenture India would have over 35000 employees, which is largest headcount for the company than United States.

Mr Green said "We have built Accenture into a powerful global brand and we intend to be a leading brand and an 'Employer choice' in India". He said that in 2006 fiscal the headcount in India was increased by more than 40 per cent. By the end of this fiscal year, the headcount would be increased to 35000 including in company's Global Delivery Network.

Expressing appreciation for the Indian workforce, Mr Green said that he was deeply impressed by the nature and quality of work done by the Indian employees in delivering best solutions to Accenture's clients. "Building a strong workforce by attracting and retaining the best talent is a priority for Accenture, which employes divers groups of people from different backgrounds with vast ranges of skills and experience" he said.

Mr Green also said that Accenture going to invest on best people to ensure quality, speed and cost in delivering services to their clients consistently regardless of geographic boundaries, industry or anything else.

Mr Green also informed that Accenture which had invested over one billion dollars on Training and Research and Development was also going to have tie-ups with leading universities and educational institutions to fine tune up the workforce and also find talent pool to be deployed on global level. In the next five years, the Accenture was expected to have more and more Indians deployed in key positions providing leadership. "Leaders comes from where the growth is" Mr Green said.

Replying to questions, Mr Green said that he envisaged more encouraging environment around the world for development and hence also for the company's growth prospect. Mr Green while complimenting the Indian competition on the scene aid that as Accenture was far ahead with its high quality performance, better co-ordination with its clients and good reputation with proven track record sees no any reasons to lose grounds to Indian counterparts.

Accenture collaborates with its clients to help them to become a high-performance businesses and governments. The company can mobilize right people, skills and technologies to help its clients to improve their performance, he said.
