Hansen International to set up plant for gearboxes

Chennai, Jan 29 (UNI) The Belgium-based Hansen Transmissions International has planned to invest Euro 170 million for a Gearbox production plant for wind turbines in mega watt range, in Coimbatore.

The facility would supply gearboxes to wind turbine manufacturers in the Indian and International markets, including to Suzlon Energy Ltd, official release said here today.

The greenfield project was planned near Coimbatore and would be operational by 2008 end.

The factory would reach its full production capacity with an output of 1,500 to 2,000 gearboxes per annum by early 2010 and employ over 600 personnel, the release added.
