GMR Energy bags Rs 900 cr power project in Arunachal Pradesh
New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) GMR Infrastructure Ltd today said its subsidiary GMR Energy will implement, operate and maintain the 160 MW Talong Hydro Power Project in Arunachal Pradesh in consideration of Rs 900 crore.
Under the project won through a competitive bidding process, the plant is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2011.
''DPR has already been prepared and the project has also received first stage of environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests,'' a statement said.
The project is in the advanced stage of development and subject to clearances from the appropriate authorities, the construction work is expected to commence in a year's time, the statement added.
''Fourteen per cent of power produced in the project will be given to the state government for free. For additional purchase of power, the state will have to pay two paise per unit to the company,'' the company said.
A 12 per cent equity in the company was also offered to the state, it added.
The GMR Group is one of the leading infrastructure players in the country with interests in power, airports and roads.
