Fire from guard's gun; panic in JK House premises

Jammu, Jan 29: A gun was accidentally fired within the premises of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly here today, where the Budget Session for the year 2007-08 was going on.

The gun shot was fired accidentally by a security guard near the entrance of the Assembly hall in the Civil Secretariat premises this morning, police said.

The gun shot created panic among the visitors, including ministers, MLAs and other VIPs.

No one was injured in the incident.

Media persons covering the budget session immediately rushed towards the spot but the guard was already taken for questioning, witnesses said.
