Extortion gang busted in North-West Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted a gang of extortionists, who were posing as employees of New Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) enforcement department with the arrest of four people from North-West Delhi.

Ajay Kumar (25), Sandeep (26), Mahipal (38) and Raj Kumar (28) were arrested from Prashant Vihar on January 27.

The accused used to impersonate as NDPL employees and extort money from residents of Prashnat Vihar on the pretext that their electricity meters had been tampered with.

During interrogation, they revealed that the racket was being run by one Raj Bhatia and as they were unemployed they wanted to make some money.

Further investigations are in progress.
