Director of prisons inspect central prison

Visakhapatnam, Jan 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Director General of Prisons S K Jayachandra today inspected the central prison here.

Talking to reporters, he said the Cherlapalle and Visakhapatnam jails would be upgraded as per the international norms and ISO-9001 specifications. We would also implement human rights, as per the guidelines of the national human rights commission, he added.

He said a website would be created shortly which would incorporate all the information regarding the jails in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Jayachandra said the security would be tightened further after the escape of the dreaded criminals Rama Rao and Yesu in Nuzvid. The district jails at Khammam, Nizamabad, Nellore and Srikakulam would be ready in another six months. The department also proposed to the government for sanctioning of new ambulances and escort vans, he added.
