New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) The national capital and its adjoining areas received moderate rains this evening, bringing down the minimum temperature which was on the rise for the past three days.

The Meteorological department said a cloud formation which was above Rohtak during the day had moved above the capital, resulting in the rains.

During the day Delhi experienced warm weather as the mercury rose to 12.3 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal.

Fog enveloped the skyline in the Capital this morning affecting visibility and causing delay of trains.

The fog, which persisted till about 0900 hours, also caused traffic jams in several areas. But flight operations at the international airport remained unaffected.

An Airports Authority of India spokesperson said flights operated as per normal.

Though South-Easterly winds maintained some chill in the air in the morning hours, the warmth in the air continued.

Yesterday the minimum was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius while the previous day it was 9.4 Degrees C. After three consecutive weekends of severe chill, Delhi finally witnessed a warm weekend.

In fact, the weatherman has forecast a further rise in the minimum temperature over the next 24 hours.
