CAG prepares finance accounts for Meghalaya
Shillong, Jan 29 (UNI) The Finance Accounts and Appropriation Accounts of the Meghalaya government for the year 2005-2006 have been forwarded to the state government on January 12 last for laying in the state Legislature.
Under the Comptroller and Auditor General (Duties, Powers and Condition of Service) Act, 1971, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India prepares each year's Finance Accounts of the states showing that year's receipts and disbursements for the states.
Along with this the Comptroller and Auditor General of India also compiles Appropriation Accounts for the states showing excess or saving under each grant or appropriation as passed by the legislature.
Both these accounts are submitted to the state government for being laid before the state legislature.
