Cabinet approves constitution of Delhi Power Procurement Group
New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) The Delhi Cabinet today approved constitution of the Delhi Power Procurement Group to procure power from April one, as a ''temporary measure''.
The decision was taken on a proposal of the power department to assign the existing Power Purchase Agreements, which were currently executed by the Delhi Transco Ltd, to the three private electricity distribution companies, New Delhi Municipal Council and the Military Electric Supply.
The Cabinet, presided by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, approved the proposal to constitute the Delhi Power Procurement Group that would consist of all the five power distribution companies in the city which would take up the task of procuring power from April one.
All arrangements for making power available from different states had already been negotiated by the DTL and now the commercial arrangements would be assigned to different distribution companies.
The Delhi Power Procurement Group would exist only as a temporary measure till the demand-supply gap was fully met by 2010-2011.
The group would create its own procedures for tying up power from different states and other generating stations whereas commercial arrangements would be made by the respective distribution companies.
