BSNL expands tele network in state

Agartala, Jan 29 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)NE I circle is going to bring the telecommunication net work in this hilly state of Tripura at par with the national standard.

Chief General Manager (CGM), NE-I circle, Shillong, A K Gupta who arrived here on a three day visiting to the state from today, said at a press conference mobile plan 100 would be expanded for every citizen and for this purpose work plan has already been initiated.

The CGM who, reviewed the progress of the development activities of BSNL in the state will inaugurate a telephone exchange based on latest tehcnology at Khumulwng, the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), tomorrow and a ''Teleshoppe'' will be inagurated by him at the Door Sanchar Bhawan, here next day.

A number of developmental activities have been initiated by the BSNL to strengthen and augment its service in the state, Mr Gupta said adding that till now BSNL has 52000 subscribers against the equipped capacity of 62600. Additional capacity of 15000 lins would be added with adding 27 new stations by March this year.

Further additional capacity of 19000 lines expected either by March or April this year and with this 34000 lines capacity addition, BSNL in Tripura would be able to clear pending waiting list and provide mobile connection on demand , the CGM hoped.

Under the Phase V plan, BSNL initially will be added 75000 capacity lines by introducing 168 new mobile BTS stations., remaining part of national highways, state highways, other important places of interes including tourist, industrial sites will be brought under BSNL mobile network, Mr Gupta stated.
