Mumbai, Jan 28 (UNI) The Youth for Equality (YFE), a non-profit and socio-political body born out of the anti-quota stir, organised its first political rally at Sion in Suburban Mumbai today.

The rally was organised in support of its only candidate, Sanjeet Shukla, a law student, contesting the forthcoming civic elections from Ward No 167 in Sion, with a promise to provide transparent governance.

The 1.5- km rally from Arora Theatre at Matunga Circle to Sion was attended by YFE members from across the country including doctors, MBAs, lawyers, engineers and celebrities like Ashok Pandit.

This rally was the first of its kind, in which professionals, working class, celebrities and a host of other intellectuals participated to press upon the voters to elect clean and educated candidates as their leaders and policymakers, YFE founder member and activist, Dr Amit told UNI.

'' Further, the anti-quota stir has made us to realise that it has become vital for the educated and the young of the country to awaken from their own dreams to work for the betterment of greater India and a good society,'' Dr Amit added.

YFE has undergone transition from an anti-quota body into a social organisation voicing against the petty vote bank politics involved in the caste-based reservations. YFE with its non-violent approach has made inroads into various campuses across the country with the message ''Be part of the system to change the system''.
