Shimla, Jan 28 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today expressed grief and sorrow over the death of noted Hindi writer and veteran journalist Kamleshwar who passed away last night.

In his message, the Chief Minister said he was a writer, journalist, film writer and a great exponent of Hindi literature who devoted his writings to the cause of suffering humanity.

He said Kamleshwar had so often been visiting Himachal to write film scripts as he found the calm, serene and picturesque nature of the state more conducive for his writings.

The state had also figured in his writings and that showed his love for the hill state, he said.

Mr Singh said Kamleshwar's incredible literary journey was studded with many laurels, adding it was privilege to confer on him the first ''Shikhar Sahita Samman'' by a literay state-based organisation last year at New Delhi.

Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Kaul Singh Thakur has also expressed grief over his death.
