Chennai, Jan 28 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Idainilai Asiriyar Sangam (Secondary Grade Teachers Association) today appealed to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to induct 'idainilai' teachers as school assistant teachers.

Sangam State General Secretary A Subramanian told newsmen here there were 25,000 secondary grade teachers working in high and higher secondary schools in the state for the past 35 years without any promotion.

However, similar secondary grade teachers working in elementary schools got promotions, he claimed and added simply because they were working in high and higher secondary schools, they were left out of any promotion in the last 35 years.

It was high time the government considered their 'just and reasonable' demand, he said.

To draw the government's attention to their lone demand, the members of the sangam will hold demonstration in the city on February two next, he added.
