STF kills three criminals

Morena, MP, Jan 28 (UNI) Three criminals, slain last night in a brief encounter with a special task force near this district headquarters, had stood accused of murder, abduction, dacoity and several other serious offences in Morena, Gwalior, Chhatarpur, Shivpuri, Datia and other districts, the police said today.

Kallan Lohar, Jagdeesh Patel and Sunil Yadav were carrying a revolver, a crude pistol, four country-made guns and several cartridges. At about 2200 hrs, the motorcycle-borne trio opened indiscriminate fire here and attempted to flee. The police pursued the two-wheeler and soon surrounded it. The criminals concealed themselves in a farm and were killed in retaliatory firing.

This district's police had announced a reward of Rs 5,000 on each of them. About one-and-a-half months back, they took the assistance of some accomplices in abducting local doctor Ramautar Parajapati who was freed for a ransom of Rs 2 lakh. The accomplices are in custody.
