Seminar on organic spices and aromatic crops on Feb 1

Kozhikode, Jan 28 (UNI) About 200 scientists and farmers from various parts of the country will participate in a national seminar on Organic Spices and Aromatic Crops beginning here on February one.

Kozhikode Mayor M Bhaskaran will inaugurate the two-day event, organised by the Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development in association with Regional Centre of Organic FArming, Bangalore, among others, DDASD director Tamil Selvan told reporters here yesterday.

New Delhi-based National Horticulture Mission Joint Secretary S K Pattanayak will deliver the key note address, highlighting the significance of organic spices and aromatic crops in the Indian context while APEDA chairman K S Money will deliver the special address on accreditation and certification of spice produces, he said.

Besides, papers will be presented by eminent scholars to highlight the eco friendly protection technologies available to manage pests and diseases in organic spices cultivation, he said.
