Resentment in Uttarakand Cong over ticket distribution in Hardwar

Hardwar, Jan 28 (UNI) Rifts have erupted in Uttarakhand Congress following the announcement of the list of candidates for the coming assembly polls in the state.

Uttarakhand Mahila Congress secretary Vimla Pandey has expressed displeasure over the party's move to field only five women candidates for the comng assembly elections in the state.

''It is highly shocking that even the chairperson of the State Women Commission Dr Santosh Chauhan, who is a popular figure in the district has been denied nomination,'' she told UNI.

President of the Hardwar Chauhan Mahasabha Yogendra Singh Chauhan and vice president of the district Congress Committee Yashpal Singh Saini said that by completely ignoring the Chauhan and Saini communities, the party has jeopardised its electoral prospects.

Chauhans play an important role in Bahadrabad, Lal Dhang and Bagwanpur constituencies. The Sainis too play a crucial role in Bahadrabad, Lal Dhang and Laksar constituencies.

In the last assembly elections, the Congress lost all the nine seats in the district.
