Punjab Cong chief asks rebels to withdraw candidature

Chandigarh, Jan 28 (UNI) Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Shamsher Singh Dullo has asked all rebel candidates still in the electoral field for the February 13 assembly polls to either withdraw the candidature or face action.

In a statement issued here today, Mr Dullo appealed to all the rebels of the party to withdraw their candidature in favour of the official party nominees in the larger interests of the party.

Mr Dullo said he was aware of the sentiments of those who had not got the party tickets. ''I will do my best for adjustment of those who withdraw their candidatures,'' he said.

He warned that if the rebels chose to remain in the field, the party would have no option except to expel them from the primary membership.
